LAMPWORK 201 - RINGS – NEXT CLASS ON 6/17/2010 Use a new tool – a ring mandrel! Learn the technique for creating rings. Imagine what you can do with this technique. AGENDA 6:00-7:00 Ring-Around-the-Rosie Basic Ring 7:00-8:00 Multiple Twistie Band 8:00-9:00 Open Ring LAMPWORK 202 – CROCUS FLOWERS – 7/1/2010 This class focuses on how to create the components of stamen, flower and leaf cane. The crocus flower drop is done off mandrel using punties and a tungsten probe. Students will learn how to use a delicate and thin stringer and the subtleties of encasing something quite small while maintaining the integrity of the base piece. The class also delves into how this cane can be used on a mandrel bead or button with textured flowers, vines and leaves. AGENDA 6:00-6:30 Crocus Prepwork 6:30-7:15 Simple Stamen Cane 7:15-8:00 Flower Cane & Leaf Cane 8:00-9:00 Building the Flower LAMPWORK 203 - SCULPTURAL II – 7/15/2010 Increase your skill level as we continue working on our sculptural techniques. Practice stringer control while making a set of sea creatures. AGENDA 6:00-7:00 Sculptural – Starfish 7:00-8:00 Crab 8:00-9:00 Octopus LAMPWORK 204 - SCULPTURAL III – 7/22/2010 While fresh in your mind, we add a few more critters to your repertoire. Expanding on previous sculpture work, you’ll learn how to make wings along with proper leg and body placement. AGENDA 6:00-7:00 Sculptural continued – Bee 7:00-8:00 Spider 8:00-9:00 Turtle LAMPWORK 205 - OFF-MANDREL AND BUTTONS – 7/29/2010 This class is really an off-mandrel class with so many applications, much more than just buttons. I get a puzzled look many times when I tell people that I love to make buttons. First of all, a button is a fabulous clasp for any necklace or bracelet. A button can be converted into a pendant simply by changing the shank from the back of the button to a loop on the top. I love to work without mandrels and bead release. I grew so much as a lampworker when I put down my mandrel and thought of the other possibilities. AGENDA 6:00-7:00 Buttons – Round & Molded 7:00-8:00 Apply twistie 8:00-9:00 Eye LAMPWORK 206 – HOLLOW AND BLOWN BEADS – 8/12/2010 Learn how to construct two large disc beads and bridge them together to form a hollow bead. By using a "puffy" mandrel, the student will be able to breathe life into the bead as air expands the bead into a lightweight but large bead. The class will delve into the trick of decorating a thin-walled bead while keeping it from cracking and maintaining the embellishment intact. You'll never make small, heavy beads again. AGENDA 6:00-7:00 Discs 7:00-8:00 Hollows 8:00-9:00 Blown NOTE: A special one-day Crash Course on blown and embellishing blown beads will follow the intermediate course. |
